Sweden Unveils 'Intelligent Missile Drone' with AI-Powered Autonomy

Sweden's Nordic Aerospace Defense (NAD) has unveiled the K100XR, an 'intelligent' drone capable of autonomously detecting and intercepting aerial threats in real-time. During a demonstration under conditions simulating actual operational environments, the K100XR successfully tracked and engaged a virtual target drone. NAD CEO Karl Rosander stated the drone can replace costly missiles and air defense ammunition, featuring high-speed flight, autonomy, superior maneuverability, and a low cost per engagement. Weighing just 0.3 meters in length, the K100XR flies at over 354 km/h, equipped with carbon fiber construction and AI for self-directed threat detection and interception. It can operate up to 1 km altitude and engage targets within a 3 km radius. The system is expected to effectively counter 'Shahed'-class suicide drones and reconnaissance drones. Key advantages include built-in AI enabling 'radio silence' during operations and a 'fire-and-forget' mechanism allowing autonomous target tracking post-launch without ground control input.
