Looding, 'ZETPLEX' Technology Receives International Evaluation... Crosses the Threshold for Commercialization of Blue Electroluminescent OLEDs
As the AI era progresses, low power consumption has become a critical differentiator across displays in smartphones, IT devices, and AI equipment. Alongside low-power concerns, the OLED industry has faced a long-standing challenge in commercializing blue electroluminescent technology. Looding (Represented by Oh Hyung-Yoon) claimed to have developed the 'ZRIET' technology, a novel platform-based solution that enables zero-energy-transfer radius, bringing blue electroluminescent OLED commercialization closer. The company demonstrated its feasibility in fluorescent and thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) OLED materials. However, scaling ZRIET-based blue electroluminescent technology into products faced challenges like increased deposition temperatures causing material degradation. Looding's team solved this by reducing vacuum deposition temperatures by about 50°C, achieving stable deposition without thermal degradation. They also simplified the three-component structure to a two-component system, marking a world-first achievement. The new two-component structure showed superior performance in luminous efficiency, color purity, operational voltage, and stability, with energy transfer rates improved 10-fold. This breakthrough not only advances material science but also offers industrial value through simplified manufacturing processes and cost reduction potential. The research, conducted with teams from Kyung Hee, Gachon, Dankook, and Chungang Universities, was published in 'Advanced Science,' securing international validation.
