50 University Students Launch Monitoring of Illegal Personal Information Circulation

The launch of the '2026 Personal Information Illegal Circulation Monitoring Team' comprising 50 university and graduate students from 33 institutions took place on October 10th. The Personal Information Protection Committee and Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) hosted the event at Jeongdong 1928 Art Center in Seoul. This team, composed of 50 students selected from 33 universities, will serve as pioneers in creating a safe digital environment for six months until December. Notably, a new 'Monitoring Mentor' program was introduced, where senior members who excelled in previous monitoring efforts will mentor new recruits, sharing practical expertise on detecting illegal content. The team will not only monitor but also proactively identify vulnerabilities in digital platforms frequently used by youth, evaluating whether companies adhere to privacy protection principles. They will seek actionable solutions to enhance digital safety. Members will also participate in mentorship programs, field visits, and expert lectures, with awards planned for top performers at year-end.
