The move follows concerns that reliance on Chinese memory chips poses severe national security and economic risks, particularly as China's major memory semiconductor companies are closely tied to the military. This comes amid reports that Apple sought to persuade the U.S. government to allow CXMT's chips to address DRAM shortages, despite the U.S. Department of Defense having listed CXMT as a Chinese military entity in 2024.
