BMW Launches Early Orders for New Electric Sedan i3... Initial Sales Begin in Germany and the UK
BMW began early orders for its new electric sedan i3 ahead of schedule, with Germany and the UK launching sales first. According to electric vehicle media Electrek, BMW opened pre-orders for the i3 50 xDrive 'First Edition' in Germany on August 18, priced at 75,340 euros, while the base model starts at 65,900 euros. The UK also started 'First Edition' pre-orders on the same day at 57,905 pounds, with standard models set to begin sales in October at 53,005 pounds. Early order commencement does not impact production schedules, which remain on track to start in August with customer deliveries scheduled for late October. Jochen Goeller, BMW's Sales Director, noted strong customer response due to high interest in the model and called the early 'First Edition' pre-orders a key next step.
