About 60% of Polymarket World Cup Bet Users Were First-Time Crypto Users

A survey by Bitget Wallet revealed that approximately 60% of Polymarket users who placed their first bets on the World Cup had no prior experience with blockchain protocols. Tracking 857,000 active users over 90 days, Bitget noted that some users were introduced to crypto through prediction markets rather than traditional token trading or DeFi. Regulatory pressures in the U.S. are intensifying due to surging sports-related transactions, with Kentucky suing five prediction market platforms for operating unlicensed sports betting services. The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission has since filed lawsuits against eight states, alleging that state governments are encroaching on federal regulatory authority over event contracts.
