EU Lawmakers Urge Review of DeFi, Staking, and NFT Regulations

The European Parliament's Economic and Monetary Committee has urged the European Commission to review regulations for DeFi, staking, NFTs, and crypto loans. A non-binding report for plenary vote, authored by Belgian MEP Johan Van Overtvelt, proposes expanding tokenization of financial services and promoting euro-denominated stablecoins. The report suggests MiCA may require additional crypto activities under its scope, while emphasizing stablecoins' potential to enhance cross-border payments and strengthen the euro's global role. The European Commission has already initiated MiCA revisions, including expanded regulatory considerations for DeFi, staking, loans, NFTs, and tokenized assets, with MiCA's implementation deadline set for July 1.
