Three AirDrop Vulnerabilities Discovered in iPhone and Mac... Remote Disabling of Linked Features Possible
Three vulnerabilities have been identified in AirDrop used across iPhones and Macs. According to local IT media Nine to Five Mac, the flaws affect not only AirDrop but also AirPlay, Handoff, Universal Clipboard, and Continuity Camera, potentially rendering these features unusable during attacks. While data extraction isn't currently possible, the vulnerabilities could be exploited to remotely disable multiple Apple services on iPhone and Mac. Security researcher Arash Ebrahimi noted Apple and Google withheld specific attack details to allow time for fixes, adhering to responsible disclosure principles. Apple has resolved one of the three issues and is addressing the remaining two. Similar vulnerabilities were also found in Android's Quick Share. Ebrahimi argued it's difficult to fully avoid such flaws, citing repeated issues across platforms despite minimal shared code.
