Ripple Obtains CASP License in Luxembourg, Opening Door to Regulated Crypto Payments in 3,000 EEA Countries
Ripple has secured a Cryptocurrency Asset Service Provider (CASP) license in Luxembourg, enabling regulated crypto payment services for corporate clients and financial institutions across all 30 European Economic Area (EEA) member states. The approval follows the EU's completion of the MiCA transition period, which requires digital asset firms to meet stringent compliance and capital requirements for CASP licenses. Ripple previously obtained an EMI license in February 2023 and received a preliminary green light in June. This approval expands Ripple's global regulatory footprint, with over 75 regulatory approvals and licenses secured in international jurisdictions. Cash Cow highlighted securing a full Luxembourg license and continuing its regulatory trend. However, some countries like Germany, Poland, and Latvia have different transition end dates, while Binance faced service interruptions in several EU nations due to failing to secure a CASP license by the deadline.
