CATL Launches High-Speed Charging Battery for Electric Trucks… 'Charged in 9 Minutes'

China's leading battery manufacturer CATL has officially launched a lightweight electric truck-specific battery, highlighting its support for ultra-fast charging that enables full battery capacity within 9 minutes. According to reports from CNEV Post and Car News China, CATL introduced the 'TechTrans 2' commercial vehicle battery on June 6th. The company identified slow charging speeds, short battery lifespan, winter performance degradation, and inconsistent charger power as barriers to electric commercial vehicle adoption. TechTrans 2 overcomes these limitations, achieving 6 minutes 48 seconds to charge from 20% to 80% battery capacity and 8 minutes 56 seconds for full charge. It maintains significant performance in low-temperature environments, adding only 2 minutes 30 seconds for charging at -20°C. With a 10-year or 100,000 km warranty, CATL extends battery life beyond vehicle lifespan. Internal resistance is halved compared to industry standards to reduce heat during rapid charging. CATL plans to build over 4,000 Choco battery swap stations across 190 Chinese cities to support ultra-fast charging for logistics trucks and establish electric vehicles' competitive edge in the market.
