Red Hat and IBM Launch Automated Vulnerability Response Service 'Lightwell'
[Digitaltrends Reporter Huang Chigyu] Global open-source solution provider Red Hat and IBM have officially launched Lightwell, an automated vulnerability response service. According to the companies, Lightwell supports enterprises in protecting specific software packages in their operational environments while building stable application platforms. The service consists of two components: Lightwell Network and Lightwell Clearinghouse Premier. The currently available Lightwell Network provides an initial catalog of over 6,500 applications across major ecosystems, including Java and Python. The limited-time Lightwell Clearinghouse Premier serves as a trusted intermediary for security patch embargo and industry-specific threat response. This release is part of IBM and Red Hat's $5 billion open-source security investment plan announced in May 2023. Matt Hicks, Red Hat's CEO, stated, 'Lightwell represents a transformative shift in enterprise software protection by combining automated vulnerability resolution with Red Hat's engineering expertise to provide the necessary trust infrastructure for enterprises to reliably and sustainably leverage open-source in the AI era.'
