1X Unveils 'Read-Write' Tactile Humanoid Hand with Mass Production Capability of 10,000 Units This Year

Norwegian humanoid robot startup 1X unveiled its next-generation robotic hand, 'NEO's Hands,' capable of manipulating and sensing objects like a human. The hand features a tendon-driven actuation system with 25 degrees of freedom, enabling human-level dexterity. The company claims to have established mass production capabilities for 10,000 units this year. The 'Read-Write' hand detects pressure, slip, and contact position through high-resolution tactile sensors, allowing it to learn object properties through touch. It can perform complex tasks like assembling LEGO, picking up screws and coins, replacing light bulbs, and folding origami, while maintaining IP68 waterproofing and food-safe materials for durability.
