LG Energy Solution Selected as First AI Distribution Network ESS Operations Provider
LG Energy Solution has expanded its business scope beyond battery supply to become an energy platform company, securing its position as an operator for South Korea's 2026 AI-driven ESS construction support project. The company, alongside Shinhan Asset Management, formed a consortium to bid for the project, which aims to address distribution network capacity issues by deploying ESS systems. Selected to manage 7 distribution lines with a total capacity of 140MWh, LG Energy Solution will handle everything from battery supply to AI-based operations, while Shinhan Asset Management will structure financial frameworks. The project, set to commence commercial operations in 2027 with a 20-year term, will connect 40MW of previously pending solar facilities and accommodate 52.4GWh of additional renewable energy.
