Trump's Clean Energy Policy Rollback Led to $102 Billion in US Investment Loss
Analysis reveals that Trump's administration rollback of clean energy policies caused the cancellation or scaling back of 216 large-scale clean energy manufacturing and power generation projects in the US, resulting in 470,000 lost jobs and $68 billion in private investment. These projects would have added over $900 billion to GDP during construction and $550 billion annually thereafter. Tax losses are significant, with federal, state, and local governments losing $200 billion during construction and $120 billion annually in operations. Battery storage projects faced the largest job losses at 42,000 positions, followed by solar (33,000) and electric vehicle sectors (28,000). The canceled projects include 10 GW of solar, 3.75 GW of wind, and 9 GW of battery storage, equivalent to power for 3 million households.
