KT Wins WSIS Prize Champion Award with Education Platform 'AI Station'

KT (Chairperson Park Yun-yeong) announced on October 10 (local time) that its 'KT AI Station' platform won the Champion Award in the Information and Knowledge Access category at the WSIS Prize 2026 ceremony held in Geneva, Switzerland. The WSIS Prize, organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), is the premier award in the information society field, with winners selected through online voting and expert reviews of 1,595 global projects. KT is the only domestic recipient this year. KT AI Station is a mobile AI education platform aimed at bridging the digital divide and strengthening AI capabilities for future generations. Since 2025, it has directly visited schools and communities in remote areas to provide AI technology and ethics experiences for youth. Last year, KT conducted education programs in 21 regions and 19 schools, engaging 1,797 students, with satisfaction scores of 4.77 for students and 4.94 for teachers. The project also showed significant educational outcomes, with a 4.84 score in improving digital ethics awareness. In 2024, KT previously won the Champion Award in the Information Society Ethics (C10) category under its 'KT Digital Citizen' project, making it the first private company in South Korea to win the WSIS Prize twice. KT ESG Director Jeong Woon stated, 'We will continue expanding educational opportunities through AI Station to ensure youth understand and safely use AI.'
