Samsung Electronics has completed the tape-out for Tesla's next-generation AI semiconductor 'AI5,' marking the final design step before manufacturing. The achievement confirms Samsung's 2nm process technology and collaboration capabilities, as Tesla's AI5 chip will power autonomous driving (FSD), Optimus robots, and data centers with significantly improved computational performance over its predecessor. The production of AI5 and AI6 will shift to Samsung's Taylor factory 2nm line, part of the $17 billion North American semiconductor hub under construction. This milestone is expected to accelerate Taylor factory readiness and boost Samsung's foundry business performance amid growing orders from Tesla, Meta, and Anthropic.
