Mercedes Begins Operations at EV Hub with 1.7 Trillion Won Investment…Starts Production of Next-Gen Electric C-Class
Mercedes has initiated production of its next-generation electric C-Class at its Hungarian Kecskemét plant. The factory, which received a 10 billion euro (1.7 trillion won) investment to expand European EV production, now includes a new production facility, battery assembly plant, second press shop, and paint plant, increasing its site area to 440 hectares. The move focuses on shortening supply chains by manufacturing batteries, vehicle bodies, and key components in-house, while balancing internal combustion engine and electric vehicle production. The plant, linked to Mercedes' Rastatt facility, will also produce the upcoming compact G-Class exclusively and incorporates digital twin technology and AI-driven quality control systems.
