Trump Denies Sexual Misconduct, Yet Pays $80 Million in Compensation to Victim

Former President Donald Trump has been ordered to pay E. Jin Carroll, a fashion columnist, approximately $80 million in compensation following a civil trial related to sexual misconduct allegations from nearly three decades ago. The New York Times reported Trump paid the $5.62 million judgment in 2023 to Carroll's attorneys. The U.S. Supreme Court rejected Trump's appeal, upholding the lower court's $5 million judgment and interest. Trump condemned the decision and vowed to continue his legal fight. Carroll alleged she was sexually assaulted by Trump in the 1990s at a Manhattan department store fitting room and won the case in May 2023. While the jury found insufficient evidence to confirm the assault, they acknowledged Trump's misconduct. Trump consistently denied the allegations, calling them false, and appealed the verdict multiple times without success.
