Boston Dynamics is testing Spot, its four-legged robot, as a last-mile delivery aid. The company is developing a conveyor belt system enabling Spot to autonomously transport packages from delivery vehicles to customers' doorsteps. This trial aims to reduce the burden on delivery drivers by having them unload packages into Spot, which then transports them to the doorstep. Boston Dynamics expects this approach could justify Spot's $75,000 price tag if it proves efficient in real-world scenarios. The firm is already discussing last-mile delivery applications with major logistics companies and plans to expand from demos to formal pilot projects.
