Samsung Electronics is initiating investments in semiconductor equipment for its P5 facility in Pyungtaek. The company is completing the selection of semiconductor manufacturing equipment for its first production line and concurrently advancing the setup of the second line. The imminent procurement of equipment worth tens of trillions of won is fueling industry expectations. According to industry sources, Samsung's DS division has entered the final stage of selecting semiconductor manufacturing equipment for the first phase of P5. The facility, planned as a six-story cleanroom complex, aims to boost production capacity by over 50% compared to existing facilities, targeting next-generation DRAM and HBM products. The company is also evaluating foundry lines to meet growing demand amid global memory supply shortages.
