Why US Uber is Acquiring Germany's DeliverHero

Uber is acquiring Germany's DeliverHero for approximately 22 trillion won, aiming to establish a global platform integrating mobility and food delivery services. The merger combines Uber's mobility network with DeliverHero's 50 regional delivery platforms, creating a service operating in 99 countries. The transaction includes a 130 billion euro valuation, with combined 2025 GMV reaching 236 billion dollars. Uber's strategic focus is on securing regional delivery networks, including Food Panda in Southeast Asia, Talabat in the Middle East, and PedidosYa in Latin America, to expand its footprint in key markets. CEO Dara Khosrowshahi emphasized combining platforms to enhance consumer and driver opportunities, while integrating DeliverHero's quick commerce capabilities into Uber's global mobility strategy.
