Benchmark Won, But You See? Silicon Valley's Gaze on Kimi K3
Chinese AI startup Moonshot AI's newly released open-weight model 'Kimi K3' has become a focal point in Silicon Valley. US media Business Insider highlighted the model's growing attention and industry reactions. Kimi K3, with 280 billion parameters, excels at handling hundreds of pages of documents and large codebases. It ranked first on Arena's frontend coding leaderboard, surpassing Anthropic's Claude Fable 5. Its cost advantage is significant: $3 per 1 million input tokens and $15 per 1 million output tokens, compared to $5/$30 for OpenAI's GPT-5.6 Sol and $10/$50 for Claude Fable 5. Moonshot AI, backed by Alibaba and Tencent, is valued at $31.5 billion and plans to open-source its model weights on October 27. The launch comes one day before the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) in Shanghai.
