Veteran game developer Glen Scottfield, known for creating Dead Space and Callisto Protocol, announced his retirement after 35 years in the industry, reported GameStreameze on July 15 (local time). Scottfield shared the news via a LinkedIn video, expressing gratitude to EA and Activision for their roles in his career, while acknowledging the current industry challenges and wishing success for the next generation of developers. He previously stated that completing Callisto Protocol marked his decision to retire, calling it one of the hardest development processes of his life, even more demanding than working on The Lord of the Rings. Scottfield, who led Crystal Dynamics on projects like Tomb Raider and Legacy of Kain, also founded Striking Distance Studios and stepped down as CEO in 2023 to pursue new opportunities.
