Foreign Tourists Purchase K-Fashion and Daily Food Based on SNS Reports
Analysis reveals that foreign tourists' consumption in Korea is expanding beyond luxury brands and major retailers to include K-fashion brands and everyday Korean food items. Lotte Members published a report analyzing foreign tourists' spending patterns using Elpoint transaction data, highlighting how their consumption begins with SNS content before arrival, transforming areas like Seoul's Myeongdong into discovery hubs. The report shows tourists now actively purchase K-fashion brands, with 27% of top 15 domestic fashion brands popular among foreign visitors. Their shopping habits have evolved into 'daily consumption' reflecting Korean lifestyles, exemplified by products like LotteMart's Paldo & Yangban Seafood Noodle Soup Ramen and ZERO line-up snacks. Busan has emerged as a key destination for Taiwanese tourists, with 50% of foreign customers at local stores being Taiwanese, showing higher purchase rates of snacks, instant noodles, and kimchi products compared to Seoul.
