Samsung SDS Officially Launches NPUaaS with Domestic NPU

Samsung SDS has launched a service-based NPU (NPUaaS) powered by Purio AI's second-generation NPU, 'Reniage (RGND)', on its Samsung Cloud Platform (SCP). Reniage is a domestically developed NPU specialized for AI inference, enabling real-time application of pre-trained AI models for tasks like answer generation, document analysis, and image recognition. It offers superior power efficiency and cost-effectiveness compared to GPUs. The NPUaaS allows enterprise customers to use SCP's subscription model without purchasing servers or building data centers, with flexible options for 1-8 NPU units based on demand. Integration with SCP's storage, compute, and network services enables scalable solutions, while the sovereign cloud environment ensures compliance for public sector clients. Samsung SDS CEO Lee Ho-jun emphasized that the launch represents a shift toward more flexible and cost-effective AI infrastructure.
