Lee Eun-yeong Appointed Director of National Science Museum... First Female Director Since Opening

She is the first woman director since the museum's opening. A 43rd Administrative Service Examination graduate, Lee earned a Master's in Public Administration from London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). She rose to become the first female senior official in the Ministry of Science and ICT, serving in roles including Director of Convergence Technology Division, Future Technology Division, Software Industry Division, Performance Evaluation Policy Division, and Research Achievement Innovation Office. In her inauguration speech, Lee stated, 'I aim to transform the National Science Museum into a platform connecting science and citizens, and a science museum that all generations will want to revisit.' She outlined key initiatives including expanding visitor-driven experiences, preparing for the 100th anniversary, and fostering a communication-focused organizational culture. The museum plans to expand experiential exhibits and educational programs allowing visitors to interact with exhibitions and understand scientific principles. It also aims to redefine its role in the changing demographic landscape and promote cross-sector collaboration with arts and culture fields. Lee emphasized, 'I will collaborate with employees to ensure science and technology are accessible and enjoyable for citizens, striving to elevate the National Science Museum into a globally beloved institution for nurturing future scientific talents.'
