Samsung Electronics Enters Smart Glasses Market with 'Intelligent Eyewear' Set for Launch This Year
Samsung Electronics is entering the smart glasses market this year. The company unveiled two smart glasses models in May. At the 'Galaxy Unpacked' event, it added two more models. Sales are set to begin this year. Samsung Electronics held the 'Galaxy Unpacked' event in London on June 22 (local time). The company launched 'Intelligent Eyewear,' a glasses-form factor product designed to allow users to more naturally and intuitively leverage AI in daily life. The product incorporates Qualcomm's Snapdragon AR1 1st Gen SoC and Google's Android XR operating system. It features a camera, sensors, microphone, speaker, and battery, offering up to 9 hours of battery life on a single charge with an additional 7 charges via the case. Voice, motion, and visual data are integrated to enable users to access information and utilize AI. Collaboration with Google, Qualcomm, Gentle Monster, and Warby Parker highlights the project's design and technological ambitions. Samsung has confirmed a launch this year but has not disclosed the official name or release date.
