The Broadcasting Media Communications Commission has decided to comprehensively re-evaluate the broadcast evaluation system, which influences license renewals and approvals. The review aims to redesign regulatory frameworks and evaluation criteria to align with rapidly changing media environments, moving beyond partial adjustments to the existing assessment system. Committee members emphasized the need for a zero-based overhaul, stressing the importance of incorporating industry competitiveness, operational performance, and oversight of private regulatory bodies like the Naver News Partnership Evaluation Committee. The revised evaluation rules, set to take effect from 2027, will be integrated with the 2027 broadcast evaluation plan.
