LG Energy Solution Files Patent Lawsuit Against EVE Energy in the U.S., Expanding Front to Cylindrical Batteries

LG Energy Solution has initiated patent infringement lawsuits against EVE Energy in the U.S., targeting cylindrical battery patents through the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) and a Texas federal court. The case involves five patents, including four related to cylindrical battery technology and one for separator materials, which are reportedly used in U.S. power tool markets. EVE Energy, a Chinese lithium-ion battery company, is a major supplier for small-scale cylindrical batteries. This lawsuit marks LG Energy Solution's expansion of patent enforcement from pouch and prismatic batteries to cylindrical batteries, while also including U.S. customers importing and selling products from EVE Energy. A successful ITC ruling could lead to import bans and sales restrictions on infringing products. The company has previously sued Chinese battery firms in Europe, including Sinovatio in Germany, achieving sales bans and compensation rulings.
