Samsung and LG Electronics Join European Appliance Association; Call for EU Support and Regulatory Relief

Samsung and LG Electronics, along with European appliance firms, are urging the EU to support the home appliance industry amid rising manufacturing costs and stringent environmental regulations. The European Appliance Manufacturers' Association (APPLiA) has written an open letter to EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, demanding a unified industrial strategy. The letter, signed by 16 major European firms including Mila, Dyson, Electrolux, and Beko, highlights the industry's struggle with excessive green policies and regulatory burdens. APPLiA warns that without intervention, some companies may relocate production outside Europe, threatening the sector's 1.3 million jobs and €79 billion economic contribution.
