XRP Futures Open Interest Z-Score Rises... Leveraged Trading Set to Increase Again?
As XRP continues its downtrend, the rising futures open interest indicator suggests a surge in leveraged trading activity. According to cryptographer Arab Chain, the 30-day open interest Z-score for Binance XRP futures rose to approximately 1.60, surpassing the 30-day moving average of 418.5 million XRP. The total open interest reached 440.6 million XRP, with a standard deviation of 138 million XRP, indicating increased participation in derivative markets over the past month. Arab Chain explained that the rising Z-score signifies open interest exceeding the 30-day average, signaling faster recovery in leveraged trading and market participation. A concurrent rise in prices and open interest could bolster trader confidence and sustain the uptrend, while open interest growth without price gains may indicate speculative positions, increasing market vulnerability to large liquidations and volatility.
