DataBricks-MS Extends 'AI Alliance' Until 2030... Strengthening Data Integration

DataBricks and Microsoft have reinforced their long-term cooperation framework for enterprise AI. The companies extended their strategic partnership until the 2030s, jointly advancing large-scale enterprise AI adoption. DataBricks will operate core operations on Azure DataBricks, while Microsoft plans to integrate DataBricks AI capabilities into its product portfolio. This collaboration focuses on enabling enterprises to build AI systems that understand customer data, products, operations, metrics, and workflows. They will provide a governance framework connecting trusted enterprise data with AI models and agents. DataBricks plans to transition business operations and data analysis environments to Azure DataBricks, leveraging its internal data lakehouse for core platforms. Microsoft will also expand adoption of its Arm-based infrastructure Azure Cobalt, including Cobalt 200 with 50% performance improvements and memory encryption. Microsoft aims to tightly integrate DataBricks tools like DataBricks Genie, Unity AI Gateway, and Genie Ontology into its products, allowing customers to build AI agents and manage usage and costs. DataBricks AI will be integrated into Microsoft 365, Teams, Copilot, Power BI, and Power Platform, alongside security and data management services. This enables enterprises to apply AI in operational environments while maintaining data access controls and cost management. DataBricks anticipates enhanced performance, efficiency, and choice for enterprises during AI expansion. The partnership builds on their June 'Data+AI Summit' collaboration, expanding scope to connect data platforms with business applications.
