Naver Expands 'Gagseong' AI Factory to 200MW... Securing Leadership in AI Computing

Naver, in partnership with NVIDIA and Brookfield, is constructing a 200-megawatt (MW) sovereign AI infrastructure in Sejong, South Korea, a threefold expansion from its previous 55-MW announcement. The move follows NVIDIA's AI Summit in San Francisco, where the collaboration was unveiled during President Lee Jae-myung's visit. Naver's hyper-scale infrastructure expertise, leveraging NVIDIA's full-stack AI platform, marks a follow-up to its June 2023 announcement to build gigawatt-scale sovereign AI infrastructure. The 200-MW facility, based on NVIDIA DSX, will house approximately 100,000 GPUs, offering end-to-end solutions to reduce costs and accelerate production timelines. The infrastructure will support next-generation AI models and services for Korean and U.S. firms, with NVIDIA investing $1 billion and Brookfield committing up to $9 billion in conditional support.
