SK Expands Collaboration with Five Big Tech Firms on AI Semiconductor and Data Center Initiatives

SK has secured the foundation for its domestic AI infrastructure investment plan through collaboration with U.S. big tech companies. At the 'K-AI Summit' in San Francisco, SK announced agreements with NVIDIA, Microsoft, and Anthropic to advance AI semiconductor and data center infrastructure. Separate discussions with AWS explored expanding domestic AI infrastructure collaboration. The partnership with NVIDIA includes over $50 billion in investments, with SK Group committing to comprehensive cooperation spanning AI factory construction and memory supply. SK Telecom will supply next-gen GPUs for a 2GW AI factory and expand investment collaboration. The project builds on a June agreement to realize a GW-scale AI factory. SK Telecom will adopt NVIDIA's DSX platform to deploy its next-gen AI computing system 'Vera Rubin,' incorporating SK Hynix's high-performance HBM4 memory. Construction and operations will commence in phases starting 2027. SK emphasized a strategy to develop large-scale AI infrastructure to address growing demand in Korea and Asia-Pacific. SK Hynix will pursue long-term AI memory collaboration with NVIDIA, expanding its business foundation. Both companies will co-develop next-gen AI memory like HBM for emerging infrastructure needs. SK Hynix also plans long-term server memory supply for data centers with Microsoft. SK Telecom signed a MOU with Anthropic for GW-scale AI data center construction in Korea. AWS partnership will build on its Ulsan data center collaboration to advance domestic projects.
