South Korea, Global Big Tech Form 95 Billion-Dollar AI Alliance... Push for 5GW AI Data Center Construction

South Korea's major companies and global big tech firms are advancing a 95 billion-dollar semiconductor supply-production collaboration and a 5GW AI data center (DC) construction initiative. The government aims to support the agreement's implementation to establish South Korea as a global AI production hub and collaboration platform. The Science and Technology Information Communication Ministry revealed the 'San Francisco AI Summit' hosted in San Francisco, where AI leaders from domestic and international firms shared future visions and launched large-scale AI investment initiatives. Samsung Electronics' Lee Jae-yong, SK Group's Choi Taewon, Hyundai Motor's Jung Yeong-sun, and Naver's Hwang In-jun joined domestic participants, while NVIDIA's Huang Jiayi, Broadcom's Huk Tan, OpenAI's Sam Altman, Anthropic's Dario Amodei, and Microsoft's Satya Nadella attended. The summit facilitated six agreements, including 95 billion-dollar semiconductor collaboration and 5GW AI DC development. Samsung will collaborate with Broadcom on 2000 billion-dollar advanced memory semiconductor supply and AI chip production. SK Group, through SK Hynix and SK Telecom, will partner with NVIDIA on 5000 billion-dollar semiconductor procurement and AI DC expansion. Microsoft and AWS will also expand AI DC collaborations.
