Korea Electric Power Corporation Expands Tech Innovation, Startup Investments, and Anchor Companies in Jeonnam Gwangju
Korea Electric Power Corporation announced plans to focus on three key initiatives—technological innovation, expansion of startup investments, and attracting anchor companies—to establish Jeonnam Gwangju as a national hub for the energy industry ecosystem. The company aims to drive the transition of energy demand toward decarbonized energy sources by promoting AI, data centers, and semiconductor clusters, while implementing 35 kV DC distribution technology to set global standards. Additionally, it plans to establish a Global DC Joint Research Institute in Jeonnam Gwangju's joint innovation city and create a growth platform for startups through its subsidiary, Hanjin Technology Holding, which will invest in promising ventures and support international market expansion. The corporation also launched an incubation center to identify high-potential startups and collaborate with local governments to attract anchor companies that can drive related industries and job creation.
