Samsung Electronics has initiated preparations for launching a successor to its TriFold foldable phone in 2024. Following the addition of a 4:3 screen ratio foldable model this year, the company plans to release four foldable models in total by next year, including the TriFold. Samsung will introduce a 'Pro' variant in its Galaxy S27 series during the first half of 2024, expanding its foldable lineup to four models in each half of the year under the '4+4' strategy to broaden consumer choice and strengthen market positioning. Industry sources report Samsung has begun sharing details of the next-generation TriFold project with partners and entered the development phase. An insider noted Samsung is preparing four foldable models for 2024, with screen sizes similar to last year's models. The TriFold, a dual-fold device launched as the Galaxy Z TriFold in December 2023, features a 9.96-inch main OLED display and a 6.49-inch external OLED display, offering a large 4:3 screen for enhanced content viewing. A user praised the expanded screen size for immersive video and mobile gaming despite increased weight. Analysts note Samsung's potential to scale production for the second generation, as the first model, though technologically impressive, had limited availability. The company's early development phase suggests the TriFold could debut alongside the Galaxy Z9 series in July 2024, adding to its foldable lineup.
