Meta Targets Illegal Surveillance Footage with AI Glasses

As AI smart glasses like Ray-Ban Meta become more widespread, hidden camera and street harassment videos are proliferating on social media, prompting Meta to launch crackdown efforts. Instagram announced it will remove content filmed with AI glasses that involves harassment or exploitation, following reports that such videos have caused controversy. The company warned it will delete content showing others being harassed or exploited, such as uncomfortable stalking comments, and vowed not to tolerate sharing secretly recorded footage. Previously, Instagram suspended two large creator accounts with over 1 million followers each for posting illegal surveillance videos, including incidents like spraying odor liquid on candles and fake feces in restrooms. Meta also equipped its AI glasses with anti-spy technology, including a white LED light that activates when recording and stops if users attempt to block it.
