Hyundai Department Store Establishes 'The Hyundai' in Tokyo... Visitor Numbers Up 5x, Sales Exceed Targets by 30%
Hyundai Department Store is expanding K-brand exports through its new permanent flagship store 'The Hyundai' in Tokyo. Since opening its store in Tokyo Plaza Omonokado on October 26, the venue has seen 2030-generation visitors increase fivefold compared to previous levels, with sales surpassing targets by over 30%. This marks a shift from temporary pop-up stores to a permanent location, leveraging Seoul's spatial planning expertise to cater to Japanese 2030s' demand for Korean cultural experiences. K-fashion brands like Coisei-o038, Doublebutter, Hieta, and Stand Oil achieved rapid sellouts, while collaborations with K-pop group TWS attracted local fans. The store represents Hyundai's first step in its 'The Hyundai Global' strategy, drawing over 60 Asian retail industry professionals from Japan, China, and Taiwan to examine its space planning and K-brand lineup. Hyundai plans to expand to Asian cities like Tokyo, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, with European expansion goals by 2030.
