Flare CEO: 'Major XRPFi Expansion Over Next 6 Months'... Projecting 50 Billion XRP Inflow
Flare is set to advance its expansion of the XRP-based decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem 'XRPFi' over the next six months. The core initiative involves building infrastructure to enable XRP as a DeFi asset rather than a simple payment instrument, with market focus on liquidity inflows. Flare's CEO Hugo Filion outlined plans to transform the platform into a fully programmable layer for the XRP Ledger (XRPL), addressing XRPL's limited smart contract capabilities. By introducing the FAssets system, users can convert XRP into wrapped tokens FXRP for participation in DeFi services like staking and lending. With initial technical updates planned within two weeks, Filion expects significant changes to XRPFi over the coming months. Current FXRP issuance has already surpassed 150 million tokens, and long-term projections suggest up to 50 billion XRP could flow into the Flare ecosystem—a portion of the total XRP supply. However, institutional adoption may take time as security audits and validation processes are anticipated before mass participation.
