Mitsubishi Joins Humanoid Robot Race... Aims to Produce 1,000 Units Monthly by 2027

Mitsubishi has partnered with robotics startup Highlanders to mass-produce humanoid robots, aiming to achieve monthly production capacity of 1,000 units by mid-2027. The collaboration includes deploying humanoid robots at Mitsubishi's Kyoto factory, with Highlanders developing the robots and Mitsubishi managing mass production. This initiative addresses labor shortages, as Mitsubishi plans to integrate humanoids into engine production lines. The partnership marks a shift for Japan's robotics industry toward practical mass production, positioning Mitsubishi to compete with global automakers like Hyundai, Tesla, BYD, Xiaomi, and XPeng who are already testing humanoid robots in factories.
