Kospi Paid Equity Issuance Halved... Total Half-Year Scale 6.3 Trillion Won
Paid equity issuance by listed companies in the first half of this year amounted to around 6.3 trillion won, a 24.5% decrease compared to the same period last year. However, free equity issuance saw a 10.5% increase in issued shares. Korea Depository and Clearing Corporation reported that 220 listed companies raised a total of 6.2722 trillion won through paid equity issuance in the first half. While the number of companies increased by 0.9% year-over-year, the total amount decreased by 24.5% from 8.3103 trillion won. In the Kospi Market, 30 companies raised 2.4183 trillion won, with a 23.1% drop in companies and 55.5% decline in funds compared to the previous year. Kosdaq Market saw 175 companies raising 3.7394 trillion won, with a 9.4% increase in companies and 40.0% rise in funds. Konex Market had 15 companies raising 114.5 billion won, marking 21.1% and 43.9% declines in companies and funds respectively. Third-party allocation accounted for 50.6% of total paid equity issuance (167 companies, 3.1752 trillion won), followed by shareholder allocation (22 companies, 246.7 billion won) and public offering (33 companies, 150.3 billion won). SKC raised the most at 1.1671 trillion won, followed by NH Investment & Securities (400 billion won), Kakao Bank (249 billion won), Kakao Games (240 billion won), and Lunit (211.5 billion won). The company with the highest number of issued shares was Iwondiagnoetics at 389.8 million shares, followed by Organic T cosmetics Holdings (138 million shares) and Kodaco (97.33 million shares). Free equity issuance saw 28 companies issuing 3.3676 billion shares, a 16.7% increase in companies and 10.5% rise in shares compared to the previous year. In the Kospi Market, 4 companies issued 623.4 million shares, with 42.9% fewer companies and 5.0% less shares. Kosdaq Market had 24 companies issuing 2.7442 billion shares, representing 41.2% more companies and 14.7% higher shares.
