PC Motherboard Manufacturers Expand Support for CXMT DDR5 Memory in China

Taiwanese motherboard manufacturers Asus, Gigabyte, and MSI are expanding official support for DDR5 memory from Chinese DRAM giant ChangXin Memory (CXMT). These companies have improved compatibility through recent UEFI firmware (BIOS) updates, enabling CXMT-based DDR5 modules. With three major global motherboard makers now officially supporting CXMT memory, Chinese DRAM is entering the mainstream PC ecosystem. Gigabyte confirmed enhanced support for CXMT's 16Gb/24Gb DDR5 modules on AMD 600/800 and Intel 700/800 series motherboards, with speeds up to 8200MT/s. Asus and MSI have also announced optimizations and official support for CXMT DDR5 memory. This shift follows a trend where Chinese DRAM, once limited by compatibility issues, is now gaining traction as global DRAM suppliers redirect capacity to HBM for AI servers, creating supply gaps in PC DDR5.
