For example, when asked to write an introduction in Stephen King's style, ChatGPT responded that while it can embody the atmosphere and character-driven storytelling typical of King's work, it cannot replicate his unique voice. This change applies equally to both living and deceased authors, with a unified policy now in place regardless of the author's status. The shift is seen as a preemptive response to large-scale copyright litigation risks, as U.S. copyright law does not protect writing styles themselves but could consider AI-generated content infringing if it closely resembles original works.
