Amazon Surpasses 50,000 Electric Delivery Vans, Halfway to 2030 Goal
Amazon has exceeded 50,000 electric delivery vans globally, reaching half of its target to deploy 100,000 by 2030. Most of these vehicles are Rivian-branded, with the company having delivered over 30,000 under its contract for 100,000 units. In Europe, Mercedes-Benz electric commercial vehicles now account for over 10,000 units operated by Amazon, with nearly 5,000 additional units added last year. These vehicles are primarily deployed in Austria, France, Germany, Italy, and the UK, with production occurring in Germany and Spain. Amazon has expanded its charging infrastructure globally, operating over 17,000 charging stations in the U.S. alone, which constitutes the largest private electric vehicle charging network in the country. The company is also advancing electrification beyond vans, operating over 100 Mercedes-Benz electric trucks in Europe and planning to double that by year-end. In urban areas, Amazon utilizes electric cargo bikes, e-scooters, and hand carts for deliveries, having shipped over 30 million packages via micro-mobility hubs in Europe last year.
